Triple Therapy for Helicobacter Pylori Eradication in Kenya
Once a lab test has been done and H Pylori is positively detected in a patient in Kenya suffering from peptic ulcers, what follows is the eradication of the bacteria as well as the healing of the ulcer wound. This can be done by using an H. Pylori Kit like Esclam Kit in Kenya.
The recommended module for eradication of is a one week triple therapy consisting of an Antibiotics such as Clarithromycin and Amoxicillin and a proton pump inhibitor such as Omeprazole. Variations of the triple therapy have been developed over the years, such as using a different proton pump inhibitor, as with Rabeprazole, Lansoprazole or Pantoprazole, or replacing amoxicillin with Tinidazole for individuals allergic to Penicillin. Such a therapy has transformed the treatment of peptic ulcers and has made a treatment to the infection possible.
Pylori peptic ulcers in Kenya are treated with remedies that kill the bacteria, decrease stomach acid, and shield the stomach lining. Antibiotics are used to destroy the bacteria. Acid-suppressing medicines might be proton pump inhibitors.
Proton pump inhibitors overturn acid production by halting the mechanism that drives the acid into the stomach. Proton pump inhibitors have for many years been prescribed alone for treatments for ulcers. Nevertheless, when employed alone, these specific drugs do not eradicate H. pylori bacteria and therefore do not cure H. pylori-related ulcers.
Treatment usually involves a grouping of acid suppressors and antibiotics. Antibiotic regimens recommended for patients may differ depending on the patient and prescriber as some patients in Kenya have shown resistance to certain antibiotics.
Two antibiotics are generally recommended; Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin; this reduces the risk of treatment failure and antibiotic resistance. Esclam Kit has these two antibiotics, with Esomeprazole as the acid reducer.
The use of only one medication to treat H. pylori is not recommended.
- Esclam Kit has; 2 Esomeprazole 20mg tablets, 2 Amoxicillin 1GM and 2 Clarithromycin 500mg per kit.
- A day’s therapy contains two kits, one to be taken in the morning and the other to be taken at night.
- Each is indicated as MORNING or EVENING
- After the kit, a continuation dose of an acid suppressant is recommended for atleast 3 weeks.
