Glenmark’s new Esose HP Helicobacter pylori treatment kit in Kenya contains

  • 1 tablet of Esomeprazole/Esose 40mg
  • 1 tablet of Levofloxacin/Glevonix 500mg
  • 2 tablets of Amoxicillin 500mg

Esomeprazole available in Esose HP Kit in Kenya is used to treat stomach and esophagus problems associated with excessive production of acid. It works by decreasing the amount of acid released into your stomach hence relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers.

Levofloxacin in Glenmark Kenya’s Esose HP Kit belongs to a class of drugs known as quinolone antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of the Helicobacter pylori bacteria. By stopping its growth, it curbs and arrests disease progress hence faciliates faster healing.

Levofloxacin like all quinolones, functions by inhibiting the two type II topoisomerase enzymes, namely DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. Topoisomerase IV is necessary to separate DNA that has been replicated (doubled) prior to bacterial cell division. With the DNA not being separated, the process is stopped, and the bacterium cannot divide. DNA gyrase, on the other hand, is responsible for supercoiling the DNA, so that it will fit in the newly formed cells. Both mechanisms amount to killing the bacterium. In this way, levofloxacin acts as a bactericide.

Amoxicillin is also used in this kit medications to treat stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by the bacteria H. pylori and to prevent the ulcers from returning.

Amoxicillin is a member of the same family as penicillins and, like them, is a β-lactam antibiotic. It acts by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It inhibits cross-linkage between the linear peptidoglycan polymer chains that make up a major component of the cell wall of Gram-positive and a minor component of Gram-negative bacteria. Gram negative bacteria are not generally susceptible to Beta-lactam antibiotics. By disrupting the bacterial cell wall, Amoxicillin renders the bacteria defenseless hence easily destroyed by the body’s self defense mechanisms or other drugs.

Hi, was diagnosed with H Pylori, will be starting the treatments soon, should I take it before a meal and are the side effects severe. Thanks

    • Admin ePharmacy

Preferable 30mins to meals, but not necessarily. Levoflacin’s absorption may be delayed by the presence of food, but overall drug action is not substantially affected

I used this medicine and got a serious allergic reaction on the 6th day. I have used amoxil before and never had any reaction. What could have caused the allergy and also, will the pylori die(I stopped taking the medicine at the 7th day coz of the reaction) or do I need to finish the dose?

    • Admin ePharmacy

If you react with any drug, you should stop using it and seek guidance from the prescriber as soon as possible
